Week 2 - Reggae

Rehearsal and performance

As a vocalist this week i have been listening to mostly reggae music as our genre this week was reggae.
This week was week 2  for our induction. This weeks genre was reggae, so as normal  we was given a selection of song choices and this week our band chose 'stir it up' by Bob Marley. My aim for this song choice was to learn lyrics and remember the harmonies i was responsible for and learn my verses that i needed to learn. During rehearsals, at the beginning me and another vocalist was not sure how the tune of the versus went so we decided to change it up a little bit but keep it within the reggae theme. Our aim was to make sure we got the tune right and make sure we was in time with the other instruments.
During performance what went well was that  i remembered my harmony at the beginning as i was the first vocalist to start the song off. Also i think that the band stayed in time together and with a few mistakes made we did not stop going.

The struggles i had personally with this weeks song choice was trying to learn the lyrics off by heart and as a band i think that us recording it a few times was not the best.

Week 1 - 60's Rock

Rehearsals and performance

As a vocalist this week.  I have been listening to songs from all different types of genres compared to what i normally listen too. This week, i was told to learn a song within 60's rock. We was given a selection of song choices, and as a band we chose 'really got me going by the kinks'. My aim for this week was too learn the lyrics and remember the harmonies i was responsible for and keep in time with the band. During rehearsals on the first day i didn't think i did to well as a vocalist because i was not familiar with the song so therefore i was not able to sing the song the best way possible for me and therefore i struggled. However the next day performing was not as bad as the day before as i learned the song over night and familiarised myself  with the song and key. As a band on the second day i think rehearsals went really well, as we all had learnt our individual parts.

On the day of performance i think that it could of gone better because i was really nervous and i forgot the lyrics. What i think went well was that we stayed in time with each other and the instruments worked perfectly together even though we had no guitarist.
